The team approach of combining virtual meetings, multiple on-site visits, and a detailed professional proposal gave Georgia Pacific the confidence to move forward with Kee Safety.
Kee Safety Salesperson initiated the engagement with a Microsoft Teams call, followed by a site visit and roof walk to assess the specific conditions. Kee Safety developed a customized proposal featuring two products: a Kee Step Roof Crossover system to bridge the elevation change from the rooftop up to the silo, and a Kee Guard perimeter railing kit to protect the adjacent roof edge in the work zone.
The Kee Step system was configured with a 5-foot vertical rise crossover and side step-down, attaching to the existing ladder mounts on the silo structure. The system was specified as non-penetrating, protecting the roof membrane from unnecessary penetration. The Kee Guard component included 20 linear feet of non-penetrating guardrail in two 10-foot sections flanking the crossover on either side.
The project was installed by installation partner ATS, who the customer recognized as delivering outstanding workmanship. The solution was fully self-supporting and required no structural modifications to the silo or roof.
The solution was fully self-supporting and required no structural modifications to the silo or roof, meaning Georgia Pacific's existing infrastructure stayed intact and the system can be removed or reconfigured whenever the facility needs change.
The installed system comprised two distinct components. The Kee Step Roof Crossover featured a 5-foot rise with a side step-down, attaching directly to the existing ladder mounts on the silo structure and weighing 839 lbs. Flanking the crossover on either side, a 20-linear-foot Kee Guard Railing Ladder Kit was installed in two 10-foot sections, providing perimeter protection in the rooftop work zone without penetrating the roof membrane and weighing 1,430 lbs. Both systems were fully self-supporting and required no structural modifications to the silo or roof.
OSHA-compliant access from the rooftop to the silo, eliminating the ladder-access hazard.
