Charles River trusted Kee Safety for complex, custom-engineered solutions in a secured, compliance-driven environment.

A Collaborative, Hands-On Design and Installation Process

The sales process for this project required genuine engineering collaboration. Kee Safety's regional team conducted multiple site walks given the complexity of the cooling tower configuration, providing initial sketches that were reviewed and approved by the Charles River facilities team. The design then went through three rounds of revision to finalize drawings and solidify the structural approach before financial approval was granted.

The final system consisted of four distinct Kee Platform configurations: two upper-level platforms spanning the tops of the cooling towers, a lower catwalk on the single-tower side, a lower catwalk on the double-tower side, and a lower platform on the left side of the double towers. All bracing and diagonal members were designed with on-site adjustability noted in the drawings to accommodate field conditions in the confined rooftop space.

Kee Guard non-penetrating guardrail was also incorporated on the adjacent roof level, providing edge protection around the work zone.

Three rounds of drawing revisions, multiple site walks, and a design that had to accommodate four distinct platform configurations in a confined rooftop space. That is the kind of engineering depth that Kee Safety brings to complex, compliance-driven environments

Results and Next Steps

•       Fully custom, multi-level Kee Platform system installed across two cooling towers at 12-foot working height.

•       Three lower-level access platforms provide safe maintenance access to the mid-zone of both cooling towers.

•       Kee Guard non-penetrating guardrail provides perimeter protection on the adjacent roof level.

•       A follow-up site walk was scheduled for a future Charles River project.
